Pflugerville, Texas A Moment in time from Austin
Pflugerville has become an extension of Austin, a suburb almost but a town worth talking about. The town was founded in 1860 when William Bohls established a post office and a mercantile. The town was named in honor of Henry Pfluger, who arrived in 1849. Most residents raised corn, beans, sweet potatoes, rye and cattle, which they drove up and down to market on the Chisholm Trail.
Pflugerville grew slowly but now is experiencing tremendous growth. Pflugerville now has over 20,000 residents with more flocking to the area. The town has changed its theme to "we are open for business." The current economic focus is bring in more employers who bring in more employees, lets grow our sales tax revenues. More shopping and restaurants are going in, along with many beautiful subdivisions. They have added a man-made lake stocked with tons of fish and their infrastructure has led to many new parks and park revitalization. It's a great place to live.
